When 150-car Trains move across the surface of the Earth they create rumblings that in the middle of the night can be felt for 30-miles. Each train sends this vibrational energy both downward into the Earth and across its surface. If you ever go camping within 30-miles of a train when there is nothing else around you will feel this vibrational energy and if you are perfectly at rest then your body will slightly tense up and your pulse will increase as well.
Is it possible that large trains moving across or along Earthquake faults under the right conditions might trigger Earthquakes? Some believe they can but only under the right set of circumstances. Others say it is so nominal that it makes no difference. Yet, it is not nominal if it can be felt over 30-miles away.
Recently in Japan it was discovered that swaying buildings and the weight on or near a shifting fault line can cause an Earthquake. When asked about this some scientists said; "Yes and swaying buildings on top of such areas could actually trigger an earthquake, as they create stress on a point along with resonance."
So if this is true can we build railroads with canceling resonance devices or build buildings along Earthquake faults with an anti-resonance harmonic dampener to prevent them from singing a particular tune above an Earthquake fault for too long during high winds or tremors causing a piling affect?
We know that Harmonics can cause structural fatigue in aircraft, buildings and infrastructure and we just do not know the answers to all the questions of future materials such as Flexible concrete of moondust, carbon nanotube sheets and new alloy mixtures. Perhaps we need to explore these things more and determine how much seismic activity is in some part, even if minute, caused by mankind's endeavors? Think on this in 2006.
