Radiation exposure and radiation sickness are things to be concerned with. The United States west coast is concerned about the ongoing impacts from Japan's earthquake and on March 11, 2011 and the subsequent tsunami and now the radiation. And what about Hawaii, which is hours closer to Japan.
Those working to prevent a meltdown of the six Fukushima nuclear reactors are seriously at risk. The "Fukushima 50", as they are called have been and continue to be subjected to lethal levels of radiation exposure. Radiation sickness will lead to a quick death. Or the radiation will cause a slower death from cancer.
Do we need another drug?
Even without radiation exposure, there is an increase in cancer and other diseases due to our unnatural life styles. We're eating fabricated foods. The key to better health could be as simple as eating better foods. Americans need to spend more time and money in the produce sections of the supermarket. God created foods that support the body in healing and which the human body understands how to assimilate and use. Those devoted to reducing sickness and chronic diseases, encourage us to eat more eat more fruits and vegetables.
Then there are drugs...
Often the side effects of prescription drugs designed to treat diseases, are much worse than the conditions they are curing. Many drugs merely mask the symptoms - so no real healing is taking place. The goal of some drugs is to maintain. The condition doesn't get better but it doesn't get any worse.
Don't we love drugs?
In today's society we love drugs. Whatever ails you there is a drug for it. That's why addictions and "Anonymous" programs are growing. If something comes up, we've learned to drink something, take something, eat something, buy something or do something to make the pain go away.
What about radiation?
We have a serious world situation with the nuclear plant and radiation problems in Japan. The atmosphere is not a closed box. What happens in one part of the world can drift around the world. Fear and interest in radiation sickness and it's prevention is rising and re-kindled. The party line is that radiation levels are minor in the United States. But all nuclear radiation levels are detrimental to human health. As usual we seek a pill to fix it.
Well, good (?) news. A pill is on the way. One U.S. drug research firm, called Onconova, in collaboration with the U.S. Defense Department research laboratory, is working on such a pill. Potentially, this drug could not only protect people from dangerous levels of radiation exposure but also heal those actually exposed to damaging nuclear radiation.
