A moderate earthquake and at least one aftershock rattled the San Francisco Bay Area this afternoon and was felt from San Jose to Berkeley to San Francisco.
Here at Surge Desk's West Coast bureau in the East Bay, the quake caused computer monitors to sway and floorboards to creak.
The U.S. Geological Survey put the magnitude of the initial quake at 4.1, with aftershocks registering 2.6 and 2.1. The epicenter for the quake, which occurred at 4:16 p.m., was 10 miles east of Seven Trees, Calif.
By local standards, the quake was not at all serious, and compared to the 1989 Loma Prieta quake it felt like something of a kiddie ride. Still, we must admit, it provided for a bit of adrenaline.
So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
